COURSE INSTRUCTOR: David Metcalf
David Metcalf has been a tournament bridge player for over 20 years,
a Gold Life Master and a flight A player, with dozens of regional
titles to his credit.
He is a full-time professional, ACBL-certified bridge teacher who has
been teaching bridge for over a decade. He has taught over a thousand
students at all levels of the game. He has also worked as a
Computer Science instructor at Boston University, and is a
state-certified mathematics teacher.
David is well-known as an ACBL Tournament Director for bridge
tournaments across New England and New York; and is the owner, manager, and
chief director of the Newton Bridge Club.
The following bridge classes will be offered this winter.

- Learn to Play Bridge
- We are tring to arrange a new Learn to Play Bridge class at the Waban Library,
most likely on Tuesday afternoons. Details, including dates, costs, etc.
are still being worked out. Stay tuned....
- Advanced bridge: Bidding Workshop
- Practice bidding interesting hands based on common bidding situations amd conventions
- Suitable for both Standard American and 2/1 Game Force partnerships
- Tuesday Mornings, 9:30-11:30, at at Temple Reyim, West Newton

- Beginner Bridge 2
- A continuation of the Learn to Play course started last fall.
- Wednesday Evenings, 7:15-9:15 at at Temple Reyim, West Newton

- Intermediate Bridge:
Defensive Communication
- Introduction to defensive signals and partnership defense
- Friday Mornings, 9:45 -11:45, at at Temple Reyim, West Newton

SIGNING UP FOR A COURSE
To sign up for a course:
- Just show up!!!
- Bring a check made out to "David Metcalf" to the first class you
attend for the appropriate amount, depending on how many classes
you plan to attend.
Classes must be paid for on the first day you attend.
Class scheduling is TENTATIVE - exact offerings and schedule is subject
to change or cancellation, depending on interest, number of signups, and room
availability. If the number of signups is low, we my be forced to increase
the cost of or cancel the course.
